I found some really awesome silver foil damask wallpaper on sale today and wanted to use it as a wallpaper for a wall I didn't paint. Any ideas on how to attach it to a wall?

I can't use wallpaper paste as it is an apartment. I was thinking maybe staple gun? Because the pieces would have to be hung in panels, I was thinking of putting some silver ribon over the seams ...and the staples (which would only be stapled at the seams).

Do you think that would work/look nice? Or do you think it would look cheap? I would hang framed pictures up over it to break it up. Any other ideas on ways to attach it to my walls.

MAYBE spray adhesive, but I live in a city with high humidity 90% of the year, so it might not work very well.

    Any ideas are welcome! Thanks!

    Success is mine!
So, I went to the GI and found out it's not IBS but Crohn's disease. So, they put my on steroids and an anti-immune system pill thing. I won't be on the steroids for long though. Oi.

    Festivus Miracle?

Having never worked with fleece or embroidery, having few sewing skills and no sewing machine, I have to admit, I'm pretty pleased with myself. Not that making a customized sherpa hat for friend is something I'll do again any time soon...

    Christmas crafts and llamas
This year I'm serving in an AmeriCorps program where I work as a tutor and after school teacher in an urban school. I taught a class called Amazing Animals for 2nd and 3rd graders, and after discovering that classes went much more smoothly if they got to make things, I incorporated more arts and crafts into the class. We spent quite a while on llamas in the class, partly because of the complexity of this project, and partly because I decided to show The Emperor's New Groove as a preview to the llama class. But the kids loved doing the llamas, and they had something to show off at Family Night!

    IMG_1117

It was a fun project, and since I rely heavily on the internet for ideas for game and craft ideas for my class, I thought I'd pay it forward by making a tutorial of how I made the llamas. Click here to see the tutorial on my blog"

Merry Christmas everyone!! (Or, Happy Day in General if you don't celebrate it!)

I dunno if anyone remembers, but a while back, I posted in here with a ring that I made out of a quarter. Many of you asked how I did it, but it's kinda one of those things that's easier to visualize than explain.

So I finally had a day off today and made y'all a video of the process :) It's highly sped up in parts but you get the idea.

    Enjoy!

    Last minute Christmas crafting!
My stepmom is impossible to get Christmas presents for. She has just about everything, and I never know what she wants. All I really know is that she loves the color pink, martinis, and Corvettes. Last Christmas I etched the Corvette logo in martini glasses, so I kind of used up all of my options for this year and just decided to go with a pink theme.

A snowflake shaped journal I just made:

I made it by cutting out a snowflake out of decorative paper, gluing it to a binder board, cutting the snowflake in half and stitching a journal out of it.

80's night at One Eyed Jacks
80's night is still on tonight at One Eyed Jacks for those who may need something to do. $1 high life as usual and probably very festive gogo dancers. :)

Jacks is also doing 80's night for New Years Eve. It's an 80's prom theme with a photo booth and of course $1 high life and champagne at midnight.

Paper Snowflakes and Holiday Card Display
Construction paper snowflakes festoon our large upstairs window! No patterns, just a stack of ordinary construction paper and lots of love.

And for [info]scdsam who asked what to do with leftover holiday ribbons, I present our display of incoming holiday cards. This was inspired by a picture from a magazine (possibly Family Circle?) circa 2000, and this is the first year I've gotten around to making it happen. The display is 3 yards of red pom-pom ribbon. The individual cards are tied on with coordinating red and orange patterned ribbon (dots, stripes, and checks) and cheapo key chains. The materials will be reusable for following years. (Holiday card display cross-posted to [info]organize.)

SHOW ME THE PICS ALREADY! )

    Happy Holidays!

Well, here we go again.  IBS, just in time for the holidays!  And the full digestive system too!  Reflux and loose stool which will no doubt end up being diarrhea before long.  Took the acid-blocker which I hate taking because it will probably end up giving me anemia and absorption problems, and the anti-spasmodics which I take everyday for all the good they do...
And won't working in retail on Boxing Day be fun?!  6 hours of insanity, fuck I can't wait.  UHG I can't believe this is my life now...lol can you tell I'm depressed as hell?

    apology
    Hello everyone,
I'd like to make an apology for anyone who's sent me a postcard in the last couple of months and hasn't recieved one back. Things have been crazy around here (but lets be honest, when are they not!) and I've also run out of postcards to send and haven't gotten around to buying more. I'd like to thank everyone who's sent me one (especially our lovely [info]khaki who sent a wonderfully thoughtful Christmas card) and say that as soon as I get more everyone who is owed one will be getting one, I promise! Thanks for your understanding.

are the apartments behind magic kingdom really as bad as everyone seems to say that they are? im graduating school next semester and looking to move down to florida. i work @ the 7 seas resorts (poly/grand), so the location is pretty perfect. but it seems like people have quite negative things to say about all of them - buena vista place, alexandria parc vue...are people exaggerating, or are they really THAT terrible?? and if they are, what would be a comparative option?

    Baby's Blocks
I started these last night and finished them today. They took less than 2 hours from start to finish. Very easy. I was inspired by http://www.make-your-own-baby-stuff.com/baby-blocks.html, but honestly did my own thing. They are 6 x 6.

    Uses for leftover holiday ribbons?
As the presents pile up, I'm noticing a lot of really gorgeous holiday ribbons (the lovely fabric and fabric/wire kind) tied around the packages.

Anybody have any ideas as how to reuse these (other than wrapping for next year)? They're probably no longer than 1-2 ft each, varying widths, and none really matching except that they're holiday-ish in theme.

Asking in advance because I probably won't keep them if I can't think of a way to use them again. THANKS!

Special Children's Story Time at Latter Library
Kids out of school and looking for something to do? Out of town guest with children that need free entertainment? We've got a suggestion!

Special Story Time with Beth Finke
    Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 10:30 AM
    Latter Library

Beth Finke (author, teacher & journalist) will read her children's book Hanni and Beth: Safe & Sound.

Hanni and Beth: Safe & Sound is the story of how Beth, who is blind, travels safely around the city-to work, shopping, even to baseball games-with the help of Hanni, a specially-trained Golden/Labrador Retriever. It's a touching tale of mutual devotion and teamwork.

Hanni and Beth: Safe & Sound includes factual information about how Hanni was raised and trained, how Beth and Hanni learned to work together as a team, and what it's like to be blind.

    Stolen Items.
So..... on Saturday before the Saints game, my car was stolen.

I was parked 1/2 block from Poydras on Bolivar St on the street right next to the LSU Medical Center.

But unfortunately, what was in the car is worth so much more to me than the car itself.
(not that I wouldn't love to have my car back...)

If anyone sees any of these random things around the city....let me know. I would just LOVE to have a chat with anyone with my stuff.

93 Dodge Dynasty, Maroon, License plate "SIP 007"

Nikon D90 with a Black and Gold Fluer De Lis Camera Strap. 18 - 55mm lens on the camera.

    Nikon 55 - 300mm lens.

Lowepro Sling Shoulder Camera Bag, black

40 gig black ipod in a leather flip case. (it has the complete season of Firefly on it!)

    Black leather jacket

Car Charger for a Blackberry Storm

Western Digital 80gig portable hard drive with a big "World of Warcraft" sticker on it

    Bostich Pneumatic Nail Gun

Under Armor Red and Black Wide Receiver Gloves

    Nike Blue and Black Cleats

    A Saints Sweat Shirt

A "Saints vs Chargers in Wembley Stadium" Scarf

And finally, a Harrahs Work id.

I know I am grasping at straws, but I have to try any and every avenue. Craigslist, Ebay and Pawnshop searching is only going so far.
